Donauzentrum
The DZ is famous for beeing a "shopping center" and
it was built and opend in the 1970's
It has about 119.000 m², and ~260 shops.
Besides shops the DZ has also an entertainment part
where you find cinema and a lot of various 
restaurants and bars.

Currently there's quiet a lot of christmas shopping going on there.
Bring along some patient^^

Karlskirche
yeah, today it was a bit foggy :)

One year after the black death epidemic in 1713
Emperor Karl VI. vowed to build a church for his name patron
Karl Borromäus who's also the black death saint ("Pestheiliger")

The laying of the foundation stone was in 1716, after an architect competition
which had been won by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach
.

In 1921 the last time.
During the WWII more than 12.000 graves
and hundreds of vaults were totally destroyed.

when emperor emperor Franz Joseph I. had his 50th throne jubilee.
Back than, it was the biggest giant wheel in the world.


Yeah, there were quiet a lot of things built for his golden anniversary.
Franz von Assissi church and the Riesenrad are only two of them.

"Franz von Assisi Kirche"

This church was build from 1898 to 1910
when Franz Josph I. had his golden anniversary.
For that anniversary there was a competition
and Victor Luntz who was the architect of this church won with his design.
Luigi Luccheni murdered the wife
of the emperor (Kaiserin Elisabeth) in 1898.
A gold mosaic inside remembers this tragedy.
